Eco Friendly Burial Options

eco friendly burial optionsIf you care about your planet and the environment in general, you will obviously be looking for ways of being more environmentally friendly, even after you’re dead, which is why you should consider looking into eco friendly burial options. Whilst the only things that are certain in life are death and taxes, that doesn’t mean you can’t make a difference to this wonderful planet even after you’re gone. Whether you simply don’t want to spend eternity buried in the ground, or if you really want to save our gorgeous planet before it is too late, eco friendly burial options are certainly worth looking into. Not only do they help protect the environment, many of them are actually pretty darn cool as well. Here are a few eco friendly burial options that you may wish to consider.

Becoming a Life Gem

This is not only great for the environment, it is great for your loved ones as well, and it is easy to understand why it’s becoming so hugely popular in countries all over the world. When you become a life gem, basically you are cremated and then have your ashes turned into a precious gem which can come in a variety of colours. You can then have the stone set in a ring, in a necklace, in earrings, or anywhere else for that matter, so your loved ones can always have a little part of you by their side, even when you are gone. Although cremation is not the greenest of funeral methods, it is considered to be more eco friendly than a regular burial. Your ashes, complete with carbon matter, will be pressed until a beautiful gem is created.

Become an Eternal Reef

For those of you who love sea and marine life, and who want to help improve marine life before it is too late, this next one is for you. Again, you will be cremated, but after you are, your ashes are mixed with a non-toxic cement mixture, to create an artificial reef. The reef is then placed into the ocean in an area where coral reefs are struggling, where other marine life can breed on and inside the reefs, helping to restore dwindling ecosystems in our oceans. If you have an interest in the ocean and in sea life in general, this is a great alternative to a regular burial.

A Pencil Urn

This next offering is one of the most unique and beautiful eco friendly burial options you will ever hear. Basically, once cremated, your ashes will be used to create a series of pencils, roughly about 240. The pencils are stored in a stunning looking wooden box, which only allows one to be removed at a time. There is an in-built pencil sharpener on the box, that catches the sharpenings, made from your ash, so when the last pencil has been used, the sharpening will be stored in the box, which then becomes an urn, holding your ashes. This is ideal because it is unique, plus you are also serving a purpose when you’re gone as well.
